A Day in the Life of Jane

Fiery in Red. Emcee-ing with Jzev during Senior's Ball

I am planning a wedding for somebody.

All the white lace and the promise of fancy cakes and ball gowns is getting me excited.
And then I remembered you. An image that will always be you.
You texting and calling people, pressing for urgency on undone invitations and hunting down MIA's, frantic but steadfast that any wedding must be fairytale-like. Sans the eye bags and bad hair, you always pull through.

And you do this so well, I admit, that you should be doing this!
If I get married, would you fly back here and be my wedding planner? I do not know any other soul who will do the job as flawless and as sincere as you.

It doesn't stop with weddings: debuts, rock concerts, corporate events, you name them, she'll be your girl. A fond memory of you was when you are holding the microphone, makeup kit in hand in the off chance of a photo shoot, cocktail dress at the ready, and a bottle of water to keep everyone hydrated. You make us take sips because we can't be withered flowers at any occasion. Dapat fresh.
When everyone has taken their share of the buffet, that is when you pick up your fork. The last to dine in a party she herself has planned.

I brush back frizzy strands of reddish-brown hair from your face, brittle from countless times it was pressed against slabs of hot iron. The makeup is hiding your lack of sleep, your eyes tell me otherwise.
Sweat drips at the sides of your face. You let out a sigh. I, worrying that you'll fall into a fever by the morrow, as your system always does this to you - its way of rebelling against the physical exhaustion you inflict on it.

But you smile. A resigned gesture that this comes with the job. You sacrifice some of yourself for the happiness of others. Charity, something only the likes of you are capable of. I see that this has been a source of joy for you from the very first time you helped plan someone's party up till today. I take some tissues and dab at the dripping sweat ruining your makeup. I smiled back, just another day in the life of Karen Jane Acasaran.
